SEVENTH
DAY
DOUBT
Ques. I have waited half-an-hour without response.
Why do I receive nothing?
Ans. Because you are hesitating and do not trust in
us. You think we cannot give you the highest. You wish for a message from Jesus
Christ, and know not that we are his instruments to work redemption among those
who seek us. We cannot impress your brain or give power to your hand. You doubt
and confuse all which we say to you; you cannot lend us your mind, and we cannot
impress it in this state. You must think, but must not be unsympathetic with
those who would help the world through you.
Ques. How do I know you can help the world? Look at
the multitude of faiths and sects. What good comes of them?
(p. 12)
Ans. You shall see your answer in a flood of light
ere long. Man perishes for want of faith. He will not trust us who know better
than he does the ends of human life, to show him that faith is well founded in realities. We live and move and have our being in the
heavenly mansions of the just, and ye are in semi-darkness, our dear ones and
our friends. We speak to you, we weep for you, we crave your hearing, but ever
and anon ye say of us, “Their lives are not; they are our own thoughts taking human shape.”
If you will lend us your mind we can impress it with thoughts and words which
are foreign to it, and with ideas which are unknown to you.
Ques. How shall I lend you my mind? I cannot
understand the process. Did you write or did I write those lines on “Love,” “Prayer,” ‘‘Individuality”?
Ans. We helped you. We resolved your thoughts into
words and gave expression to our own knowledge through them, as much as we
could, but your own personality intruded many times.
Fear not evil, for in this work no evil shall come, and
the proof thereof shall be in your own life, and in your increased love for all
around you. The curse of riches shall depart from you, and you shall not
misspend your time in seeking them.
God
is faithful; He is no arbitrary tyrant,
nor evil demon glutting himself with blood and cruel
practice as do men. He cannot behold your earnest prayers for light, and give
you darkness, or withhold the light. But desire truly light and truth, and let not
your desire take any preconceived shape, then shall not evil touch you in this
work.
