THIRTY-EIGHTH DAY

RELATIVITY OF MAN’S CONCEPTION OF TRUTH

Spirit loq. Truly Love is what you and most men need, deep, inspiring, in-artificial Love, moulding your lives and giving birth to your action on a higher plane than it has yet arisen to. Neither shall you fail of attaining this, if you keep ever in mind the most high you can see, if you resolutely direct your souls to that which most truly expresses God in all you behold.

Grope and feel your ways. When you cannot see clearly, when the soul is blinded, not from lack of light, but from the mists of its own imperfections, throw out new landmarks, new signals of distress, new calls for help. Bear in mind ever that the God man worships is a subjective God, an image only of that Glory and Love which exist truly as God. Even is this so to us, who are ever advancing towards a purer and clearer conception of That which IS.

Dogmatism, by which we mean final definition by man of that which is undefinable, this truly is a hindrance to man’s advance in the spiritual.

The spiritual is the direction in which man is not developed, in which there is infinite scope for his development, because it is the only direction in which he can manifest that Law of Evolution, of individuation towards God, the nature of which we have tried to describe to you.

We have told you that all final definition by man of his conception of God, ministers not to his growth. Truly conception by man of God, and definition of that conception must be, but man needs to learn what we are

learning and have learnt; that this conception remains a purely relative, an ever advancing, ever changing conception, and must do so to keep pace with Truth.

The unloosing of the grave clothes in which you have bound your aspirations after the true, the everlasting, the imperishable fact underlying and accounting for All, must precede the resurrection of these aspirations, and the reconstruction of your Churches and of yourselves, on a basis consistent with your growth. To this end we work.
