TWENTY-NINTH DAY

THE SIN AGAINST THE HOLY GHOST

Spirit loq. God is at hand. Look upward, look inward, and you shall see Him. This is the struggle you and all men must make, the struggle to keep alive your faith in the God within man. Thus will love come to you, because you will reason thus: – “I am born of God, who is Love, who is the prime Source and Fountain of all love, of all life, the very Source and Origin of myself. Thus my consciousness, developed through many Earth-lives and many trials, enabling me to grasp the vast meaning of this sequence, can now plunge into the very Life-stream itself, can permeate itself through and through with God and with love.” Whenever you are tempted, as you often will be, to deny this fact, or to show its tacit denial in your actions, you must stop and think it out again. At all times must you act as if it were so. Then shall you know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. This is the faith Christ urged on his disciples, this is the faith which makes man one with Christ in God.

Consider: to deny God’s power within you to help

(p. 56)

your life is to deny your divine origin, and this is the sin against the Holy Ghost which shall not be forgiven to man, for the very reason that it keeps man bound down and chained to earth. Blindness, willful darkness, negation of God in your own being and substance, negation of your own God-given powers of understanding, by which you see and become one with God, all these are Earth’s sins against the Holy Ghost, all these have prevented Earth from becoming a true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The more you study Christ, keeping alive through your study, your own close connection with and penetration by God, the more will you realize that this was the meaning of mighty import to Earth, which He came to make clear to man – the Fatherhood of God, the Sonship of man, the oneness of God and man through love, conscious faith and understanding. The Christ-life, Christ-love, and Christ-powers issuing from these were the natural consequences of the full assurance Jesus of Nazareth had of God within him, of his own certain dependence on God for all that was needed to enable him fully to manifest God in his Earth-life. He taught Earth that the development of this sense is in man’s own hands, and can be achieved by every sinner who looks up to and depends in very deed and word, on God for His help. The help, the powers, the creative love-force which resulted in Christ’s wondrous deeds, are all essential potentialities within every man’s nature, in that his origin is of God, and his end is oneness with God. Man can, if he wills it, be born again, not a material birth only, but born again of the Spirit which is God, and in this sense every man may become a God.
