Maitland’s Last Home in London

A Quotation on Maitland’s Last Home in London:
           “I
N the spring I took up my abode in some newly erected studios in Thurloe Square, (1) being attracted thereto by various considerations. Among these were my preference for large, lofty, and well-lit rooms; the fact that, having never before been occupied, they would be free from the possibility of uncongenial influences remaining from former associations, and amenable, therefore, only to those introduced by myself”. (p. 405)

(Footnote 1 to p. 405)
“Nบ. 1 Thurloe Square Studios, Thurloe Square, South Kensington, London, the house being the corner house on the south side of the square, and forming an angle with Pelham Street in the rear thereof. The chambers occupied by Edward Maitland were (entering) on the left-hand side of the ground floor of the building overlooking the garden in the square. They have since been somewhat altered in their internal arrangement. He went into possession in May 1888. – Samuel Hopgood Hart.” [Anna Kingsford – Her Life, Letters, Diary and Work. John M. Watkins, London, 1913. 3rd. Edition, edited by Samuel H. Hart. Vol. II, 466 pp.]
